Questions for STEM Lessons
This list of questions is one that I found at the ScalingSTEM conference in March of 2013. While at the conference I attended a session on "Designs Across Curricula Humanities and STEM", presented by Isaac Lake of NC New Schools. The session had a ton of great ideas and resources, the questions below were most relevant to me. You can download the original document and other resources at https://sites.google.com/a/newschoolsproject.org/cif-math/stem.

- What is this thing?
- What does it do (or what is it supposed to do?)
- How is it designed to do that?
- What are its component parts?
- How do they work together?
- How well do they work together? (Is is a good design?)
STEM/Humanities Crosswalk Questions
- What is the history of this topic or issue?
- What role, if any, does government play?
- What is the law regarding this issue?
- What are the politics of this issue?
- What ethical questions arise? (Has the issue been controversial, and if so, why?)
- How can students research, argue persuasively, or otherwise communicate about this issue?
- What relevant literature or other art may there be?
